Ok this is my idea for a contents page. Now traditionally you wouldn't regard the contents page as the most exciting page in a magazine but i believe that the blends between orange and blue add colour and fun to this less appreciated page.

I like it, it's very bright and bold. I think people may be more interested in the Bash than the weather, maybe you want to put the Bash in bigger font?

Good colour scheme. My main criticsm is that there doesn't seem to be much in your magazine - the font is very large and there's not much text. It's also a bit 'young' what age group were you aiming at?
