• In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
What are the conventions (key ingredients) of student magazines? What does the front cover have to include? What is a typical contents page like? How have you included these conventions in your own mag? Have you done anything differently? How have you pushed the boundaries of this form?
Consider putting an image of your magazine next to an image of a real student magazine and make some comparisons
The key ingredients of a student magazine are:
-Front Cover
-Contents Page
-Cover Lines
-Masthead
-Pictures with captions
For my magazine I have incorporated all of these elements as they individually add that little extra to a magazine. The cover line gives the magazine an identify so as that the audience will be able recognise on future occasions. This is also the main standout feature of a magazine; of course when you refer to your favourite magazines you don’t just say that it’s a music magazine; you tell your friend the magazines’ name, for example: NME or Kerrang.
