NAME TIME!

Good news everyone, i have decided to call my student magazine "The Fresher" as i believe this will appeal to teenagers who attend colleges also suggesting its fresh makes it sound new and exciting. The meaning of "Fresher" generally represents first years of college but i still think it will stand out to 2nd years as it is a student magazine designed to cover these two ages.
I hope you like the name and thank you for your time!

First Textual Analysis

The first magazine i picked up was our local "Student ID".
On first viewing you are instantly struck by the bright colours, the yellows and pinks suggest that this is a light hearted fun read!
The masthead of this magazine is big and bold which immediately speaks to the audience as a more teenage friendly spread because its loud and outragous, representing the stereotype of teenagers. College students are clearly the target audience; not only is it called "Student ID" but the cover lines tell us about events conected with this younger generation, such as, "2nd years say goodbye" and "Bash pics". The term "pics" is slang for pictures which further informs us of the teenage theme as it employs in-formal language.
As a whole, i like the presentation of this student magazine as i feel that it captures peoples imaginations but at the same time i believe it can be seen as bland and boring because of the use of only two colours.
